All your fault

*Iremia walks down a street in Canterlot, her face buried in a book as she trots towards Canterlot Castle*

*Not looking where she's going, she bumps into someone and falls on her rump*

"Woops... oh, sorry, sir!" *She gasps, lending the stallion a hoof.*

*He accepts it, standing up on his hooves*

"Not a problem, Miss..." *He brushes any dirt off of his coat as he awaits to hear her name*

"-Iremia."

"Miss Iremi..." *He looks at her with wide eyes, before clearing his throat* "Oh, well, nice name, I should er... leave..."

*Iremia tilts her her head in confusion, before chasing after the stallion*

"I'm sorry, sir, is there something wrong?" *she gallops in front of him so that she's blocking his path, also leaving behind the book she had dropped when she fell*

"Nothing's wrong, I'm just a little busy right now..." *He shifts uncomfortably*

*Iremia rubs her chin. She has a weird feeling about this stallion*

"Why do you look so...?"

"So familiar? I assure you, I've never seen you before. I mean, not in person. I've only heard about you since you're Twilight's-"

"So much like me?"

*He pauses* "Well... I mean, many ponies look like each other, Miss Iremia...*

*She narrows her eyes* "What's your name, sir?"

"My name? Surely that's not important as of now?"

"Tell me."

*They stare at each other for a while longer, before the stallion relaxes himself*

"Apato." *He lowers his brows*

"I knew it..." Iremia growls, taking a step towards him. He moves back a little, but keeps himself contained*

"Never thought I'd meet you in person. I don't think I ever wanted to, to be honest."

"Now, Iremia, I never meant for your mother's attachment to me to get as bad as it did..."

"Attachment? Attachment? Is that what you call it? Did you never consider the fact that maybe... oh, I don't know, she loved you? Mommy loved you, and you threw it away! And for what?"

"..."

"Answer me!"

"...Because if I were to stay, you wouldn't have a real family." *He shrugged* "Don't you think it would've been harder to watch me go than to never meet me?"

"I..." *She looks at the floor* "Well... if you never loved mommy, then why did you let her... love you back?"

*He flattens his ears* "That's... just... you wouldn't understand, little filly!" *He snorts, before marching off, leaving Iremia behind*

"Don't underestimate me, dad!" *She stalks back to her book that she had left behind before*

"I wonder if there's anything in here about what's going through the mind of a selfish arsehole..."

So, this would be Iremia meeting her father for the first time. She'd be walking to Canterlot Castle to visit Turbid and Courtesy and then bump into him by accident. I know it seems dumb for Apato to live so close to his ex-wife, but he cares a lot for his current job, and Canterlot is the best place for it...

I might give Apato a full bio, I might not. But I can sum up a big chunk of his personality in one word. As Iremia described him, he's a complete arsehole.
