Story time! So, This is an idea I thought of recently, and I finally decided to write it. But first, some details.

Obviously, due to her jealousy, Luna dislikes Apato for having Twilight as his fillyfriend instead of her. She tries to ignore this a lot, but can't when she thinks she's alone and needs to take out her frustration. Celestia and Discord are the only ones who know about Luna's feelings for Twi. Celestia tries to encourage Luna that sometimes she needs to accept things in life even if she doesn't like it, however Discord thinks the opposite. Since Luna's her (at this point, future) sister-in-law, he (secretly) cares for both her and Twilight (since at this point he's a lot more comfortable with friendship and stuff). He also dislikes Apato because he's one of the ponies who doesn't approve of his and Celestia's relationship. Hopefully everything else will be self-explanitory in the story below. Basically, Apato's career revolves around debates and politics. On this paticularly important one, the royals must all attend (along with a big crowd of other ponies).

---

"This isn't fair," Discord muttered, a pout appearing on his face as he folded his arms in annoyance. "When you said I would be promoted to Prince of Chaos, you never said I'd be forced to come to boring speeches."

Celestia just chuckled and rolled her eyes. "What did you expect, then? Total freedom from the monarchy?"

"I expected some form of excitement."

The princess sighed, lightly shoving her soon-to-be husband so that he would stumbled a few steps to the side. He smirked and did the same to her, eventually so that she ended up being pushed into Luna, who was silently walking next to them, until that point. She gave them a sideways glare.

"Knock it off, you two," she scolded them. Celestia's ears drooped.

"Luna... it won't be that bad." She lay a wing on her back in attempt to comfort her, also revealing her slightly larger belly in the process. However, Luna declined the offer and shook the white wing off of her.

"Mhmm... sure."

Celestia gave a concerned look to her sister, then looked up at Discord, who simply shrugged in response. The three then carried on walking.

---

Luna probably should have been listening to the stallion's rambling about laws and any important ideas that he may or may not propose, yet she didn't. She could hardly stand to hear his damn voice. She disliked how she did, but she couldn't help it. Even if there were things that deserved the anger she had towards him, it would still go towards him.

She just wished she could get over herself.

She looked at her sister, who was listening intently, then at her soon-to-be half-brother, who she's never seen more bored. As well as that, he also looked rather irritated, and she knew exactly why. Discord also disliked Apato, but not for the same reason as her. Apato disliked Celestia's choice in husband, and the draconequus decided to dislike him back. Fair enough... even though two wrongs don't necessarily make a right. But she didn't care when it came to Apato... and going against her sister's choices just added to her dislike towards him, even if she wasn't a big fan of the Discord living with her herself (though, there was nothing else to complain about beyond Discord breaking into her room as she slept and accusing her of flushing his cotton candy down the toilet).

Luna was completely lost in her thoughts when she felt a tap in her shoulder. She jolted into reality, then looked to her side, knowing who had been trying to get her attention. Discord had stretched his lion paw around where Celestia stood and managed to reach her, despite the distance being impossible to reach if any regular pony stood where he was. Luna glanced to the side, rather irritated, until she saw him subtly wink at her. She raised a brow in confusion, before shaking it off as nothing.

That is until, Apato's speech caught her attention.

Oh, not because what he was saying had miraculously became interesting. More like, stuff was actually happening. Now, they were all standing outdoors in the castle garden, however Apato stood underneath a tent to shelter his paper from the wind, which could easily blow the sheets off of the pedestal. However, a simple tent was not enough to shelter him from chaotic magic.

Now, usually Discord would have just made clouds appear on top of Apato, however with Celestia standing next to him, he couldn't afford to pull that off. So, Luna watched as clouds formed behind the crowd, where no one would notice, then followed the grey puff of smoke as it drifted, at first slowly, towards the tent, then saw it stop just above where Apato stood. Then, out of nowhere, a strong gust of wind, which seemed very out of place on a sunny day like this, and blew the shelter right off of the ground. The stallion stopped his speech mid-sentence and could be seen dodging the flying object, probably by an inch. Confused murmurs errupted from the crowd, while Luna was trying very hard not to collapse onto the floor laughing, especially next to her sister.

Speaking of which, the crowd remembered Discord was at the back of the crowd and all turned to him with accusing glares. Discord gave a rather convincing confused expression, since this time he wasn't going to let on he was responsible (he also had to teach himself how to lie well since Celestia's good at seeing through his act).

"Ponies, I realize this seems like something that I would do, being the Master of Chaos and all. However, I would only do such a thing if Celestia wasn't standing next to me," he explained. Luna, knowing he was lying, didn't pay attention to what he was saying and rather any signs that he wasn't done with his little prank. Turns out she was right - that cloud still needed to be put to use. She refused to move her head to make it obvious where to look for evidence that Discord was the one doing these things, and instead let her eyes dart down to Discord's reptile foot, which tapped the ground very lightly, which seemed to trigger rain to literally pour out of the cloud until it shrivelled up into nothing. Not laughing at Apato being drenched in front of a crowd seemed impossible, yet she somehow managed it. Though, a few audible snickers were heard from her, but she covered them up by pretending they were simply coughs.

"I don't see who else it could possibly be, sir Discord," a pony said, looking unamused.

"Now I say that it's rude to throw accusations around, missy!" Discord snorted, knuckled on torso. Luna noticed his ear flicker, which seemed to cause a crash at the front of the crowd.

The stage had collapsed.

And Apato had been standing on it.

Luna couldn't hold it in anymore. She let out all the laughter she had been holding in, with little time passing before she fell onto the floor and rolled around in a laughing fit. She heard some ponies accuse her of the savotage, in which she answered,

"PFFT! Oh, I wish!"

As she said that, also wiping a tear from the corner of her eye, she felt herself being lifted off of the ground by who she could only presume was her sister, but she paid no heed. She still found it hard to even catch her breath.

---

Celestia had carried both Luna and Discord inside the castle - the throne room, to be exact. At this point, Luna had managed to stop her giggle fit. She watched as her sister's horn stopped glowing, along with the golden aura around her and the draconequus, before being dropped on the floor, both landing on their rumps.

"Discord, Luna, that was unacceptable." She narrowed her eyes at them.

Discord gave a low chuckle. "Oh come on, Tia, you have to admit it was at least a little funny, even if it wasn't my best prank."

Celestia eyed him harsly. "No, I will do no such thing. You both know that was wrong, and was probably a huge blow to Apato's career!"

"Eh, that's just a bonus for me," Discord scoffed.

The princess gave a groan. "This isn't the time or place, Discord! I don't give a flying feather about both of your dislike towards Apato, because it's tough! If his and Twilight's relationship grow into anything more, it's possible he'll be a royal like us, since he'll probably be married into our-" She cut herself off when she noticed Luna's uncomfortable look - she was biting her lip and her hooves were pressed together. This really wasn't a laughing matter anymore.

"I... hypothetically speaking..." Celestia corrected herself, yet it didn't seem to relax Luna one bit. "Just... IF that is to be, then you're both going to have to learn to at least tolerate-"

"DISCORD!"

The three of them jerked their heads up towards the ajar door, which soon revealed Twilight storming into the room, with an expression that was anything but friendly. It even startled Celestia, who dashed behind her fiance. Discord looked at her with annoyance.

"Thanks for the help."

"You deserve what's coming," she retorted.

Luna reluctantly watched as her crush flew up to Discord's height so she could begin her lecture. Apato also appeared in the room, who seemed to just be finishing drying himself of the shower he had just recieved. Luna, somehow, couldn't even crack a smile at that. He dumped the towel on the ground next to the door, before marching up to Discord to join his fillyfriend.

"That wasn't funny, Discord! It's one thing to prank a pony, but something else entirely to savotage an important event such as... well... THAT!"

"Twilight-" he tried to protest, yet to no avail.

"And don't even try to lie to my face and say it wasn't you, because I had a clear view of you from that stage - before it collapsed, that it." Her voice seemed to raise with every word. "I saw that smirk on your face when Celestia dragged you off. Did you not even have any consideration before you possible forced Apato to take a huge step back in his work? I don't even know why I'm asking... CLEARLY not!"

Luna saw genuine guilt in Discord's eyes... something she very rarely saw on the draconequus. He refused to make eye contact with his friend, and instead glanced at herself.

"Okay, fine. I'm sorry, Twilight. I wasn't thinking of Apato, I was think of L-" He cleared his throat to cut himself off, also taking his eyes off of Luna again, leaving her slightly confused. Was he about to say her name? She had just assumed that he was doing this for his own reasons to dislike the light red stallion.

"Yeah, you were only thinking about yourself," Twilight snorted, before landing on the ground with a loud thud. "And don't apologize to me, apologize to him." She tilted her head at Apato, who stood in front of Discord, awaiting the word. Discord's eye twitched, before he took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry, Apato. I'll make it up to you somehow."

Apato hesitated, before nodding. "I guess... apology accepted."

Twilight, to Luna's dismay, then turned to her. It was as if her eyes pierced right through her skull.

"You too."

"What?" Luna blinked.

"I had a clear view of Discord, so I definitely had a clear view of you too. You couldn't stop laughing, which I'm not letting going unnoticed." She then sighed. "Y'know, I can understand it from Discord's state of mind, but not yours. Luna, I expected better from you - much better."

The words felt as if they were stabbing her in the chest. She was so stunned that she forgot why Twilight had even paused.

"I'm waiting."

Luna shook out of her thoughts, before turning her head towards the stallion, hoever she refused to make any sort of eye contact with him.

"I'm sorry. It was inappropriate for me to laugh at your misery..."

"That's not all," Twilight continued. "I want to know what even caused you to laugh so hard. Out of all the things, it that which manages to break you. Why?"

Luna felt as if she were being interrogated for a crime, even though Twilight was nothing but curious about Luna's strange actions. She struggled to get any full words out, and could only say the first syllable of any word she attempted to say.

"Er... I..." she swallowed the guilt back down her throat. "I guess I just... found it funny."

"But why?" Twilight urged.

"I don't know. I just did."

Silence erupted the room for a few moments after that, before Twilight gave up.

"...Okay then. I hope you two make it up to Apato at some point." That was the last thing she said to her and Discord before the alicorn turned around and walked out of the door with her coltfriend. Luna continued to stare at the ground, still processing what had just happened.

"...Luna?" Celestia attempted to talk to her.

"I... I need to be alone." With that, Luna teleported to her room.
